Nezuko Kamado

Nezuko Kamado is a deuteragonist in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. She is the younger sister of one of the two remaining members of the Kamado family, Tanjiro Kamado, and an unoffical member of the Demon Slayer Corps. Formerly a human, she was attacked and changed into a demon by Muzan Kibutsuji.

Appearance

Nezuko is a young girl with fair skin, clearly big fangs, thin build, and sharp stiletto nails with a base color of light pink and with fade of red-orange color to end of which it is in pointy. Her hair is long and black and wavy. It reaches to just below her waist, turning flame orange as it passes her elbows, and is apparently crimped out into massive, straight ridges, and worn side-swept off to her left, drastically. She has soft looking, pink colored eyes which are a lighter color around the rims of their eyes and a persian pink color around the center, they slanted downwards on the sides of her face and were framed in by pretty long eyelashes. In the manga, we have seen Nezuko displayed with more than one bow at times. According to Tanjiro, Nezuko was known in their home town as a great beauty.

She wears a light pink, short sleeve kimono with asanaho (hemp leaf) pattern, the lining is a paler pink layered with the white wavy yuban from underneath as a medium length trailing skirt kimono to freely move as a demon, this, the white clothes lowly cover her knees then goes down to almost her ankles making a open window, secured by a red and white chequered hanhaba obi with orange-threaded obijime and a green obiage. Over this she wears a long, dark-brown haori with sleeves down to her calves and a pair of z0ri with pink straps and white tabi socks that are wrapped with thick pieces of black material which resemble the material kyahan. Nezuko also wears a small pink ribbon on the left side of her head to keep her hair out of her face, and the bamboo muzzle that Giyu Tomioka bound her with and which is bound around her jaw with a strip of red cloth.

When Nezuko takes on her awakened form during her battle with Daki, she has a larger size body that is higher in size and more curvaceous with hair reaching to obtain her feet. She loses her bamboo muzzle and a right footwear, including the sleeves of her kimono. She develops a short white horn on the right side of her forehead, which is designed with a rough pattern of cracks along with patterns of veins in her forehead near her horn. She has a vein-like pattern around her left eye, but her new most striking attribute is the red and green vine-like pattern covering her skin that encircles around her arms, legs and chest, as well a black cat-like slit pupils and a crack-like pattern around the rim of her irises.

After she gained her immunity from the sunlight and regained her ability to speak, her appearance mostly remains the same, with the exception of her bamboo muzzle and now her eyes appears to have a black cat-like pupils with visible cracks-like patterns around her pupils.

As a human, she had a very similar appearance, the only ones being a lack of demon-like traits, fiery-coloured hair and pale pink eyes. Instead, Nezuko had full black hair, was tied back in three low buns, decorated in pink ribbons, and had eyes of a more dark pink color appearing lighter around the lower section of the irises while on the upper part of the irises appears more darker. She wore the same kimono, albeit minus her haori and with a pink kimono with white yuban underneath layered, and a white Onbuhimo cloth tied around her and used to carry her little brother, Rokuta Kamado, on her back. After becoming human again, these features return except that her hair appears to retain her flame-orange tips as a feature that would be passed down to her descendant, Toko.

Personality

Nezuko’s original personality as a human was that of a kind and caring girl with a tendency to think about others first, similar to her brother, Tanjiro, who was her elder brother. Additionally, she was a good elder sister to her younger siblings and often put their needs before her own. Nezuko is, however, not scared of getting into harm’s way, saving her friends from demons, even after being returned to a human state. It is also revealed that Nezuko’s humane and laid-back behavior supports this fact when she is apologized by Tanjiro.
Since Nezuko turned into a demon, she seems to have gotten rather brazen and is not afraid to fight for her apparently; she fiercely protects her brother as well as her allies. She has also developed quite a strong willpower, which can be seen through her refusal to consume either human flesh or human blood, even in cases of extreme injury and exposure to human blood, which can be seen when Sanemi Shinazugawa attempts to lure her into biting him with his Marechi blood, but she refuses him. Her strong willpower can be seen even when she is no longer a demon and this is clearly seen when she willingly jumps in front of Inosuke to protect him from her own brother when he had become a demon and was trying to kill those around him. Though she could have been killed, Nezuko did not think twice about protecting her brother.
